Stark has way harder time against gj when there's an alliance for sure. I'm still yet to witness lanni win a 6p game.

They are not equally dependent on the alliance. Greyjoy can destroy Lannister, and often does. Sometimes that results in winning the game. Vice versa it is much rarer. But I have seen it happen - especially if the Greyjoy player was not a very competent one.

Here's a question, when lanni wins how does he manage it? By manage to collect barrels and taking pike? By rushing south early and blitzing highgarden? Or perhaps by some how using cersie to undermine Blackwater bay and take a castle or two off bara?

i've won games as a lanni player in a fully-blown alliance but it's a lot harder now with siege engines

And just where did this come from? You really think this thread is about the game we had last time? This is where you want to discuss that? Not with me, that's for sure.

You don't know what I prefer, but I have seen hundreds of games on this site, and what I wrote up there is my general observation.

when i play as a greyjoy, the first thing i try is to make alliance with lannister.
stark is more vulnerable, because he basically has to defend three seas, and lannister is a good tool to keep the other houses busy in the south. a strong lannister may fight well against tyrell and baratheon. this will of course increase his chances to win, but will also increase greyjoy's chances, i think.
on the other hand, fighting lannister will leave stark, who is usually slower, the time to build up barrels, troops and power tokens, and that's a terrible scenario, since in the long run the north can develop his full potential. also, while greyjoy can easily take riverrun and lannisport, the other castles are way harder, beginning with harrenhal, but moat cailin and the others are even harder.

Not as impressive as lannie85s but hey.

I tend to find that lannister wins the early war vs greyjoy when greyjoy screws up and doesn't leave a ship in ironmans bay, with lannister building first due to a muster or CP* command.

Another key to beating greyjoy is timing.  If you get greyjoy to expend their 3 strong card (victarion, euron, balon), then time an attack to knock them down, including with cersei.  Tyrion then becomes amazing.  He can not only gurantee a +1 fight, but he can extend greyjoy's purgatory and lack of access to his top cards.  Tyrion, like much of the lannister deck, is a deadly counter-attacker if used right.

This was a much bloodier fight against a stronger opponent that didn't involve that kind of easy muster take-down.  Another Lannister win after fight with greyjoy:

in many more of my games, greyjoy fights lannister and then tyrel comes up and takes pyke with a little help from Loras at sea .  i've done this 3 games in a row now...
