What is the strategy if Grey takes Riverrun on turn 1? Should Lannister contest it while Grey holds the sword?
Yeah he should! The simple solution to rr R1 by GJ is a siege tower with cerci but a knight can work even better especially if no mustering come on card drop, if it dose come the upgrade the last fm to siege and use gregor .

To be more specific: use the sea area to raid Riverrun, so you can protect the support order in Stoney Sept. Then make sure you move the siege engine to Stoney, so it's power adds in the attack but the unit is not vulnerable to counterattack.

In case of a Lanni-Grey war, indeed for those reasons, having the throne (or at least playing before) is a major advantage.

Also you should DM Baratheon and encourage him to hit stark as greyjoy clearly won't.
