Topic: Supply/march question
Posted: 2019-Oct-28 22:49
Hi all, in a PBEM game I am maxed out at 3/2/2 on supply. I currently have 3 knights in KL and 1 in the Reach and want to attack into BW from KL. Ideally, I would like to send 1 knight to BW, 1 to the Reach and leave 1 in KL. This would, if/when I win the battle, leave with me 2 units in the Reach, 1 in KL, 1 in BW, still satisfying supply limits (at 2/2/2 out of my available 3/2/2). However, I can't seem to execute these orders on my march.  Am I doing something incorrectly or is it right that I should not be able to march this way?

I understand that if I were to lose the battle, I would not be able to retreat the defeated knight back to KL without exceeding supply limits, since that would otherwise put me at 2/2/2/2. I would think if that did occur I would have to destroy the defeated knight that went into the battle. In this case, it is not possible for me to lose the battle so it's not a concern for me but otherwise I see how that's a risk.

Thanks in advance for the help.

As far as I remember, the rule is that supply limits must be acceptable at every moment of the game, and the use here is that all bits-of-marches must be dealt with that constraint, knowing that the one that generates the fight must be dealt with last.

In your case, you simply can't send the knight to Reach because that one must be done before you send your knight to BW.

If BW was empty, you would be able to do that because you would be able to do your sub-march to BW before doing the one to the Reach, but here the "fight-is-last" part prevents that.

However, I am not sure if on that point Thronemaster differs from the official rule and it's an implementation question, or if the rule is the exact one applied here. I remember that something like that is in a FAQ, please have a look.

As Necrarch said, theoretically you could lose the battle or would be forced to retreat due to some Housecards. And in that case you would exceed your Supply-limit.

Therefore, even if its practically impossible for you to lose you cant make that move.
