The rulebook text:

Replace an Order Token:
The holder may swap one of his Order tokens on the game board for one of his unused Order tokens.

In a game at this site I was able to place an order token at an area where I didn't have an order token placed. So I didn't SWAP an order token, but just placed one at an empty area.
Is this how it should work? Is this also how it should work at the real boardgame? (2nd edition)

Hi Visara,

you arent the first that asks this question, but im too lazy to dig into the forum. Buit it should be easily findable via the forumsearch.

regarding your question: Yes, thats the way it is implemented here and i personally like it because it often feels like i dont have enough orders anways. So the raven gets a little bit buffed.
You can see it as a possibility to balance out, that you cant take a look into the westeros cards.

Ah, I could have guessed I wasn't the first to ask this. Sorry for the spam.

Imagine it as swapping an order with a 'do nothing' order

EDIT:
You can see it as a possibility to balance out, that you cant take a look into the westeros cards
completely forgot about this rule. how was that exactly? Instead of order swapping or additionally?

Yes, you can only look the first card of the Wildling deck, instead of swapping an order!

See page 11 of the Rulebook:

The Messenger Raven Token
The player holding the Messenger
Raven token may perform one of the
following actions at the end of every
Assign Orders step of the Planning phase:
ɇ Replace an Order Token: The
holder may swap one of his Order tokens
on the game board for one of his unused
Order tokens.
ɇ Look in the Wildling Deck: The holder looks at the top
card of the Wildling deck. After looking, he may choose to
return the card to the top of the Wildling deck, or place the
card at the bottom of the Wildling deck. He may share the
information found on the card with other players (or even lie),
but may not show the card.
Whenever a player uses the Messenger Raven, he flips the
Messenger Raven token over to its faded side, indicating it
has been used. At the end of every Action Phase, the holder of
the Messenger Raven flips the token back to its fully colored
side, indicating it is available to be used again during the
next game round.

Correct, Elpopolos made a mistake I think. Just the choise between Wildling card check and swap a placed with an unplaced order token of yourself.

Yes, but I fear that it would be overpowered. Just for the love of the off topic, months ago I suggested to add to the Iron Throne the power to look at the first card of one of the Westeros decks. You can find that discussion here.

To have the opportunity to place an order token into an empty area with the raven didn't surprise me at the beginning. The moment our dear 0100111100-specialists are able to implement the wildling deck and, thus, are able to add the raven's 2nd function, this possibility, indeed, should cease.

(PS: Merlo, your new title should sound more genuine like "Shoutbox Spammer of the South" or "Archexpropriator of the Black Birds" or sth.)

You can't, Wildling cards are not yet implented on this platform, so there is nothing to be seen. To make up for the lack of this feature, fir the time being, you can also ADD an order token and not only swap one that was already placed. As of the wildling cards: when the wildlings attack, if the players win, highest bidder gets one house card back, if the wildlings win, everyone loses 2 mustering points worth of units, except for lowest bidder, who loses 4 mustering points worth of units.

Hope I could help.
