the current world-wide crisis is stressful for all of you. On the other hand a lot of new players arrived at our doors. I welcome you and hope you get your load of joyful distraction here on thronemaster.net!
Last week we finally released version v20.03.1921 - Yeah!
The initial version was v18.x and goes basically 2 years back. That makes it the longest beta phase in thronemaster's history. Most part of the delay is my fault. My job and other hobbies took too much time and also facing the dissappointment with final seasons of HBO's TV show I lost a bit of motivation. So, my appologies to you at this point!
Let me quickly summarize the major changes and new features for you:
1. Most importantly, we got a new beautiful map design. Our dear community member Frode789 provided it for us and worked hard on the integration in the existing system. Thank you, man!
2. We got two new game options for from the latest official 2019th errata. The new tiebreaker rules are implemented and set as default for new games. Secondly, we added another Ship in the port of Lannisport for House Lannister. This is also a default game option, now.
3. With the new map design, we also made a lot of changes and improvements which cannot be seen directly. Mostly internal refactorings, but also the data management has been improved.
That way we could quite easily provide a new ingame option to switch map designs whenever you like. Only requirement is that there are alternative maps configured for your current game setup. We currently have 5 different maps. Did you find them all?
4. The rest is mainly refactorings to boost performance. I heard we could manage over 20 LIVE games at a time already. That's a word for our small server package.
You can read the full changelog history in our development forum.
Due to majorly increased user activity our small team composed of Admins, Moderators and Judges Lannie85, Harakon, JR90, Lord Kapoor, DJLann and Nomaris has a lot on its hands.
We count over 1,500 new users in March alone. Last check, we had ~2,400 active players.
It is an important necessity, especially for me, to value their efforts. I cannot thank them enough - your work is so much appreciated! Thank you for keeping this site and community running!
In addition, the number of requests for new games naturally increased as well. We already made it possible to create many more simultaneous hostless games with reserved LIVE and PBEM slots to answer the need. Furthermore, we currently are discussing more "Corona measures" to give you a satisfying user experience.
Finally, I want to give my thanks to the people out there who supported us with donations to keep this project running. We all invest a lot of time to manage, maintain and develop this site further. Thank you and in advance for those who decide to support us as well!
What about a short view to the future?
I cannot give guarantees, but we are working an a new beta already.
In this regard, stay safe, stay healthy!
