When I spoke to him via private messaging I told him that what he did was not cool and an abuse of his MoT rights. He told me that since it was 1.5 hours since he created the game lobby there was nothing wrong with what he did. I reminded him his title suggests we play for 1.5 hours live, then switch. It does not suggest 1.5 hours from the time of the game creation. This is ongoing.
Besides this one most recent instance, I have noticed other incidents too, both as a player in the game and as a spectator. There has been more than one occasion where the host is in a bad position and doesn't want to play anymore, and he/she switches to pbem whether or not everyone agrees.
I wonder if the host player is perhaps given too much power when it comes to the ability to switch to pbem. While most MoTs are reasonable and will only switch when everyone agrees, there are some who abuse their position as host.
Perhaps we need to look at this issue and consider some solutions. One possibility could be to set a timer when creating the game. It can be 3 hours for example, and in the title of the game it should be stated that it will switch to pbem in 3 hours. Once it reaches 3 hours, players could have the option to vote to continue, if all agree then it continues, if one doesn't it switches.
Or perhaps a /votepbem function?
Any ideas about how to combat this unfortunate behaviour?
