It is (currently) only usable when you'd lose the fight by 1 point, or when you play with Tides of Battle cards.
The only case when you'd want to "burn" it (because you fear Doran) is not handled as of now.
Anyway, following Rules, you can burn the Blade only after showwing cards, not before. I mean, that preventive burn of the Blade is not legal at all.

Ah, you misunderstood what I meant.
I mean if you fear Doran in another fight, not during that one, as Doran's ability is handled before the option to use the blade or not anyway.
That's the only case where in the real game, you may want to burn your blade because you fear getting Doran-ed in another fight, and can do it IRL but not on this platform.
