Will there be an option to use the House Cards from the 2nd edition? I own both versions of the board game, and certainly prefer the 2nd edition House Cards over the 1st edition.

Yes, there is a plan in action to do that 
House card text abilites and their combinations is just a very complex thing. It takes time which I have not right now.
