Only Lord Arryn and the Conqueror can do anything about it, now. If, and only if one or both of them take Maidenpool (Arryn) or another of Hoare's regions (Targaryen, with dragons) Stark can intervene, because Lord Hoare next move comes before Stark's.

To Lord Durrandon: By the Conqueror, do you mean Lord Targaryen? I mean Lord Lannister can also easily use Lord of Reyne of Castamere to push me down to the last position on the Iron Throne track as well. That's another valid option

To Lord Gardener: Out of curiosity but from where can Lord Stark march into Flint's Finger in this round? I thought he can't do that from White Harbor and Greywater Watch, isn't that right?

Anyway, half of the houses can easily stop me in so many different ways so I can't and do not intend to win with such a weak plan in the first place. I am having something else going on There are still 3 marches and I'm dead last in Fiefdom so a single march can easily take care of me

About the conversation going on... I was going to spend first my -1 march, but I had to attack first. Luckily I waited to post, I thought abut advancing my move at first... But as Lord Hoare said, there were enough marches to stop him still.

I have to admit that it's strange to be talking about a possibly winning move in turn 2. Maybe is something to double check for future gameplays? I don't think it's a worry in the traditional game.

Also, I was just commenting to Lord Stark: wouldn't it be cool if Moat Cailin could be built? Something like King's Landing... Although I don't know if it's correct temporarily.

I don't think that the game is unbalanced, at least not to the extent to worry about a possible winning move. I got to Maidenpool purely for another reason than winning. And even if I try, as I stated before, there is no way for Hoare to win at this stage in the game. Many other houses can easily interfere.

I got lucky at Riverrun. I almost used my Harren's Sons [0] at Riverrun because of its flexibility and Lord Lannister must have predicted that when he played [3] Lord Brax of Hornvale. I changed to [4] Harren the Black last minute and unfortunately Lord Lannister chose to retreat back to Lannisport, making it a perfect target for Lord Targaryen. Otherwise, my house Hoare would have a very hard time contending with Lord Lannister in the middle land (unless we form an alliance, and even in that case, house Hoare can only hold 4 castles and they are rather spread out). That's my view about this version of the game at the moment anyway

And shall we take our general discussion somewhere else as not to interfere with the ongoing game and make it harder for our host to keep track of the game?

Hi. You don't need to go elsewhere with this discussion. I think this is the right place. I've been busy for the last few hours. Now I'm back, and I can put your moves on a map.

It may be trivial, but I guess most problems can be avoided by adopting a strategy adequate to the situation. When it comes to finding balance, I am reminded that the creators of the standard second edition also searched for it for 8 years, and then published an errata containing not entirely effective solutions. I see one conclusion from this: With such complex abilities (House cards) and such a degree of randomness (Westeros events), you can at most have the illusion that you have found some of mythical balance, and then after a few games this illusion blows away like smoke. This is just my opinion however feel free to say your own ideas (during or after the game) if you will have any to improve the game. Your ideas may be right.

I think there's a Hoare ship nearby that can intervene in this combat.
So I guess Targaryen and/or Lannister may call for the Hoarsmen (pun intended) to help them.
