Hello all, i looked for in older topic but i didn't find anything which suits my need.

Me and my friends when we play real live matches (board game) in 4p variant, we usually use Lanni,GJ,Bara,Stark like in Thronemaster.

The only difference is that we block all southern castles like 3p variant.

Is it possible to do that in thronemaster?

Only with a gentlemen's agreement, not like the south is blocked in a 3 player game.

The next best thing is ''drown pyke'', play on 1st edition board and upgrade Oldtown to either a stronghold or add a crown for balance.
It's also best to keep ''King's Court (3-4pl)'' marked so there's 1 player without star orders and only 1 with 3 stars instead of 2 players.

another interesting idea for 4p with friends is to try using the 4 southern houses... with seagard, bay of ice, ironmans bay, flints, mountains and narrow sea as blocked territories to the north...
i think its better balanced and diplomacy is more interesting too

Rumble in the south that is, wouldn't know if that's an official ''expansion'' though.

I really like the 1st-Edition-4player-Map with Stark, Lannister, Tyrell and Bara. In this variant, Pyke isnt accessible.

What are your experiences with your agreement? Seems interesting for me.

Only played it once or twice but a long time ago. Only the area's are available like in a 3 player game and agree on noone taking any southern lands.

I' m finishing this: https://game.thronemaster.net/?game=129108&player=iSghic&access=REMOVED

Host decided to not use drowned Pyke. I was the Lannister and it was very simply get 4-5 castles.

The variant I suggested is not possible, but, do you confirm is almost balanced?:

Speaking in thronemaster terms will be with King's Court
Bara, GJ, Lanni, Stark

The southern accesible border would be:
-Searoad Marches
-The Reach
-Kingswood
-Sunset Sea
-Shipbreaker bay

BTW:

I bought the Feast For Crows expansion 2 months ago and I caouldn't play yet ç_ç

With Pyke not drowned it's a done deal for Lanni, especially if he gets to have and keep sunset, impenetrable and possible to win fast. Maybe the host didn't know or forgot.

In this game balance is rather difficult, since it was designed to be imbalanced. You mean in your variant Stark doesn't get to have star orders to begin with and GJ 2? Good luck for Lanni, what about the sword, he gets that?

The 3 tracks would be like the 6p taking away non playing houses with the fourth (GJ) with no star,

Iron: Bara Lanni Stark GJ
Fiefdoms: GJ Stark Bara Lanni
Raven: Lanni Stark Bara GJ.

I know that there are always be some unbalancing (as you said, it's the game).

But, in this variant I think, Lanni could fight eventually with GJ in the same situation of a 6p not worrying about Tyrell and get more chances to win.

I'm in a 4p game right now.  I brought up the "gentleman's agreement" about not taking southern lands.  Baratheon (who has the most to lose from that agreement) never responded.  I (as GJ) told everyone else that we should either quit the game or ally up and go all out on baratheon.  Stark and Lanni agreed.

Sounds like an interesting solution right?

The very next turn Lanni goes all out and attacks me!  With a mustering, baratheon wins next turn (turn 3).

So my first question is...
Is that any fun for baratheon?  He's a very experienced player just going castle hopping for the win

Second question--
If baratheon does win, is that kingmaking by lanni?

Sorry, let me add that there's a very good chance baratheon wins even without the mustering.  He's at 4 castles and the last 3 are quite within reach, as he has his ships all set up.  I think the only way he doesn't win next turn is if there's web of lies

Did you agree on the blocked south before or after the game started?

Lannister is not kingmaking anyone, unless he could prevent the win or is not actively letting castles open.

Nice idea! But I have some concerns about the blade track. Martell can take it from Tyrell, creating an unbalance between these two houses. I think would be a good fix putting Bara before Martell in the blade track

Hi,
me and my friends usually play 4p game (availability and time considerations) and we found the best setup for it, its like some of you suggested "rumble in the south", with the north removed/closed including seagard, pyke and ironman bay, while the sea between lanni and bara is now connected (check screenshot)
the win condition is 6 castles instead of 7, we have played it many times and it is really balanced, i will try and add wellerson tweak which sounds even better,
all i could wish for is to have this type of variant here,
thanks!
