@Beornegar That's great to hear. Did you use card sleeves to cover the backs of the cards, or was that information known? Drafting 12341234 seems like it'd give a huge advantage to the first player. Was this player weaker, or were they ganged up on? Loras definitely should have been drafter sooner than the third round, especially if only 4 players were playing, vieing for space. I'm glad you guys had fun with it.

@Duckfield I think requiring a 4322110 is always a good call. Also, I think genericizing house specific cards is the best way to treat them, as is genericizing cards that refer to specific other cards to refer to simply the card with that number in one's deck. (I.e. Kevan, Victarion, and Saladhor all have their specific house references changed to whoever is using them. Also Davos simply refers to whichever 4 you have in your deck. Reek would as well, which I think could be very interesting.)

I think in these cases the waz from "settlers of catan"(?)12344321 is the best for draft

After choosing a housecard we put our hands on the table and placed deck under other hand and chosen card under other.
Used drafting order didn't seem unfair to any of us. I was the first in order, and I don't feel like I was ganged upon. With next, hopefully 6p game I will recommend using order 123456654321.

Still, I remind that we are players with just a little experience of the game, things propably would be much different with experienced players.

In my opinion, not being able to modify ports or castles would probably be the thing causing the game to turn out uneven with experienced players comparing to online version. Of course those modifications can be done, but not easily or without sacrifising beautiful look of board.

Good strategy to cover which card is being chosen.

Yeah, we used 123456654321 despite some warning against the power of double picks.

Selection would have definitely gone differently if castles weren't modified, but riverrun, even with modifications, is proving a very powerful capital. I don't want to imagine having to contend with that without modifications.

We spoke about Riverrun possibly being almost too overpowering capital to start, but we still lefted it to draft. Don't know was it because of those talks or because our lack of experience but Riverrun was not drafted.

Had a look at the initial setup yesterday, and then the status in the latest round.
Was interesting to ponder how good the starting pos were, and then look at the actual game.

Guess being landlocked like Bara is not the ideal spot.

Of course they are powerful. Maybe they are better suited in a game where "good" is easured equally. Then the first player gets the best and the worst and the last one gets two average.
But which is the best card/position/area....some idea on swapping picking order?

@ LutzE Bara got kind of screwed, if he had been able to start on KL and HG additionally, things might have turned out differently. Though being surrounded is never easy.

@ Harakon interesting. Though if 1 comes up, 1st pick is still miles above everyone else. Another user had a set order that seemed reasonably fair. I don't think there was a huge advantage from double picks, as you also have to go 10 picks without picking, which means if everyone's grabbing captials without you knowing, you're missing out.

I have played a similar version of this in real life. Definitely makes for some fun and interesting game. The "Tides of War" cards make versions like this a bit more bearable though, since it throws in some chance and randomness into an already random game.
